HISTORY OF BLUE TAPE MINISTRY
CDR's Impact Through Scott Bascon and Jeff Peters
Building a Legacy
In 2023, Scott Bascon and Jeff Peters joined the Calvary Disaster Relief (CDR) organization on a mission trip to provide relief during the Lahaina, Maui fires. Jeff had been on multiple previous CDR missions prior so he was able to show the ropes of disaster relieve ministry.
First Deployment: Helping North Carolina Rebuild
In 2024, Scott and Jeff joined the CDR team to provide relieve to the Hurricane Helene in North Carolina for two deployments. During the first deployment, Scott’s first contact was made with Pastor Eddie McClure with Shoal Creek Baptist Church in Burnsville, NC. The first thing Scott was asked to do was to put his name on a piece of blue painters’ tape by the ladies manning the front door.

BIRTH OF THE BLUE TAPE MINISTRY
A Symbol of Care
From Blue Tape to Burritos
Scott came home from his first deployment with CDR to North Carolina. He woke up the next morning seeing that God put on his heart the idea of using blue tape to signify a person by name who is temporally coming along side others to lend a loving hand to ministry to those who hunger physically or spiritually.
Scott has been selling burritos though his family’s HoleMole restaurants for over 25 years. He immediately saw that burritos were a simple means to feed someone a tasty and filling meal. And a way to start a conversation. Burritos are easy to make, easy to keep warm, easy to share and most of all taste good. Scott says , “burritos are a baton of love. As we pass a burrito to someone, we have the feeling of, “From my heart to my hand, from my hand to your hand and from your hand to your heart.
